Format of Book Review
Title:Author:
Genre:
Publisher:
Pages:
Year of Publication:
1. Introduction:
Start writing the introduction of the book by describing what the book is about. Write about the cover & talk about the title of the book as it gives the idea to this reader.2. Thesis:
Write a brief description of the novel. Discuss the character, favorite part, scenes, etc. Also, discuss whether the story kept you engaged and made you turn pages. Avoid mentioning any opinions in this part.3. Body:
Use a few quotations from the novel & summarise it in your own words. Mention your opinions in this part. Let the audience know whether the ending could have been better or the plot was good. Discuss whether the story focused on the theme or not.4. Conclusion:
Summarize the quotation & explanation in brief. Simply don't say that the book is good or bad or that you liked it or didn't. Let your audience know why you think it's a good read or why you found it disappointing. Every reader has a different taste so as different opinions so this section is really important. Suggest the type of reader you'd recommend the book to.5. Rating:
After writing the book review, you may include a rating. Some reviewers don't prefer to give a rating but most of them do. A rating gives insight into the quality of the book to your readers. If you’re reviewing a book on your personal blog and using your own rating system, be sure to explain this as well.
Points to remember before writing a book review:
- You must have an account on Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram. A blog or website would help you to grow more in the books community so try to get one for yourself.
- Create an account on LinkedIn as well as twitter. The more online presence you've, the more chances of growing by making contacts with the people who love reading & writing.
- Always write an honest & genuine book review.
- Be professional in any kind of collaboration.
- Accept the book from the author only if they're looking for an honest review.
- Any criticism in the reviews should be directed towards the book and NOT towards the author.
- Don't fall in a trap that a few initiatives offer bulk reviews in exchange for peanuts. Rather than, try to grow yourself or collaborate with people who actually value you.
